Marcus was born and raised on the Aegean peninsula. From an early age, he accompanied many experienced adventurers in the search for artifacts and treasures. As he grew older, he became more battle ready and honed his skills as a swordsman to an expert level. Though very proficient with the blade, it was apparent that he possessed even stronger leadership qualities.
By the age of 25, Marcus was recruiting men to join him on his own crusades. At about the same time, he first learned of the legendary Treasure of the Land. A wise mage, Philius, recounted to Marcus what the possessor of the treasure could gain and, from that point forward, obtaining the treasure became Marcus’ focus.
Two things have prevented Marcus from finding the object of his desire. First, the town elders of Aegeus repeatedly called on him to help quell disturbances of Scynthian origin. Being the leader that he is, Marcus found it difficult to turn down their requests. Though his battle skills continued to improve, as well as his leadership skills, his adventuring waned. When it was time to select the town’s representatives to search for the Treasure of the Land, he appealed to the elders to allow him to lead the group of his choice. The elders obliged.
Being the unofficial guardian to Harrison was the second reason Marcus had not found the treasure. Scynthians murdered Harrison’s parents when he was only 12 years old. Marcus knew the boy’s parents well and felt obligated to keep an eye out for their son. Marcus noticed Harrison’s agility and skills early on, and became the driving force in getting Harrison into the Fighter’s Guild. From there, he watched the boy turn into Aegeus’ best young fighter. Marcus thought so much of the young man’s abilities that he made him one of only six members to search for the Treasure of the Land.
