The Overlords

For those of you reading this for the first time, The Overlords is a trilogy written by Mike Squatrito.  It is set in the fantasy genre, and has been an ongoing project of mine for the past eleven years.  I either found your email address, got it from you, or got it from a friend of yours!  Please continue to read this newsletter, and visit my website!

What’s New

I’d like to start this newsletter with an update from Gardenia Press.  As most of you know by now, my manuscript had the potential to be published through this company.  Unfortunately, Gardenia Press will no longer be in the publishing business.  I guess that’s just the way it goes.  I did receive the following email from Bob Collins, the acting president of Gardenia Press in regard to conference refunds.  Anyone who prepaid for the conference knows what I mean:

“I intend to reimburse each and every person that prepaid for the conference. My difficulty is that since the closing of the publication process, there's no income to make the reimbursements.  If you can just be patient, you have my word that your money will be returned in full within the next few months. I plan to send out 4-6 repayments per month, beginning with the oldest and working my way up.”

Though this is a setback, I am still moving forward with my book and will be submitting my manuscript to prospective agents and publishers after the new year.  I started this process about this time last year and have a general understanding on what to do, and what to expect.  Like the saying goes, here we go again!  I’m up to chapter 19 with the revisions, and I am on pace to make my year-end goal.

For any of you with kids, I’m available to speak at your child’s school about my book or writing in general.  I had a great time speaking last year and would love to do it again.  Also, if anyone is working on a manuscript of there own, and you have any questions about the writing process, let me know and I’ll do what I can to help.

I wish everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.  Don’t worry about overeating.  This is one of those days of the year where it is officially legal to pig out!
