The Overlords

For those of you reading this for the first time, The Overlords is a trilogy written by Mike Squatrito.  It is set in the fantasy genre, and has been an ongoing project of mine for the past eleven years.  I either found your email address, got it from you, or got it from a friend of yours!  Please continue to read this newsletter, and visit my website!

What’s New

Happy New Year to all!  I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season, and here’s to a happy and healthy 2004.  I have a bit of news for you all.  My girlfriend Lea and I got engaged on the 23rd.  This is not a joke!  Please help me spread the word!  My condolences go out to all those women that might be saddened by the news.  You all waited too long to make your move!  Lea and I have not set a date for the wedding yet, but it looks as if it’ll take place on a warm sandy beach.  Details will follow.

About The Project

I have finished my rewrite of Legend of the Treasure, and will restart my search for agents and publishers.  I know I am biased, but I feel that this version of the book reads much better than the previous one.  It is still around 659 pages long, so I think you can all understand why it takes so long to reach my milestones.  I set a January 1st deadline for myself and I made it!  Wish me luck on this second pass of query letters and rejections.

I will continue on my second book, The Talisman of Unification, after my letters have been sent.  This book will continue the storyline and will be full of new characters, plots, and twists.  I’m sure you will all enjoy it!  I’ll keep you posted on the progress of this book too.

Excerpt of the Month

The following excerpt is when the men return to the lair of the Sphinx (Silas):

            Marcus looked at Silas respectfully.  “We will succeed, and when we have established our reign, I will come back to this lair.  I hope to learn from your great wisdom.”

            Silas cocked his head and moved it closer to Marcus.  “Don't push your luck.  You are leaving with more than you bargained for.  The way I look at it, you owe me.  I will collect my retribution in the future.  Now, leave!”
