SCROLL OF THE OVERLORDS

Unraveling the Dark Secrets of the Overlords Mythology

Issue #18 November 1, 2004

The Overlords

For those of you reading this for the first time, The Overlords is a trilogy written by Mike Squatrito.  The story is set in the fantasy genre, and has been an ongoing project of mine for the past eleven years.  I either found your email address, or got it from you, or from a friend of yours!  Please continue to read this newsletter, and visit my website!

What’s New

October was a tough month for writing since I am the most avid of baseball fans!  My beloved Red Sox finally broke the Curse and won a World Series title.  Needless to say, I slept about four hours a night throughout the month!  But that didn’t stop my progress on The Overlords.  I have finished my latest round of revisions and will be sending them to Laura in a day or two.  That puts me at the 2/3 point of the editing process – 10 chapters to go!  My goal of finishing by the end of the year is well within sight, though the holiday season will slow me again, I’m sure.  All I can say is, save your money for Christmas 2005 – I’m thinking you might want to buy a book for someone at that time!

 About The Project

With Book One moving forward, Book Two has had to take a back seat.  Still, baseball didn’t stop me from writing four more chapters, bringing Book Two’s total to 24.  I’m figuring I’m at the 2/3 point in that project too.  I’ve finally figured out a good system to writing the books in tandem, and I know I’ll be finished with the second book a lot sooner than the first.  I’ll keep you posted on website updates for Book Two in the future.

Excerpt of the Month

This scene is when Harrison and his friends receive help from an Elven race.  Harrison realizes the Scynthians true intent:

“The Scynthians have entered The Morgue.  They seek your treasure,” said Gaelos.

Harrison’s mouth fell open, the look of shock evident on his face.  The Scynthians had no right to their treasure.  He never thought that just any race could rule the land.  With his human mind, he felt that this treasure could only benefit humankind.  Could it be possible that the Scynthians could possess the ultimate treasure too?

“How do you know?” exclaimed Harrison.

“I don’t have time to explain.  They’re regrouping.”

With that said, Gaelos began to head back in the direction from which he came, with Harrison and Lance following.  On their way, they stepped around Scynthian bodies, as well as fallen elven archers.  As he ran through the forest, Harrison could not get Gaelos’s words out of his head.  The Scynthians have entered The Morgue!
