The Overlords
For those of you reading this for the first time, The Overlords is a trilogy written by Mike Squatrito. The story is set in the fantasy genre, and has been an ongoing project of mine for the past eleven years. I either found your email address, or got it from you, or from a friend of yours! What’s New
Happy New Year! I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season. I’ve been working hard on my final revisions to Book One, and I have to say, it’s looking really good. I still have chapters 25-31 to complete, but I’ll definitely be finished by the end of the month, a little behind on my goal, but not too far off. I just received Laura’s final comments on chapters 26-31, so I’ll incorporate her suggestions and finish off from there.
About The Project
I’m going to give the agents/publishers route a final try after I complete my final revisions. I modified the plot slightly, which will allow the story to stand alone. Book Two will still pick up where Book One left off, but like all good storylines, you will be able to pick up each individual book and understand the characters’ goals without having to read the previous novel. Of course, I’m hoping you all will read each book – over and over again!!!
Excerpt of the Month
This scene is when the group is surprised by a dark ranger:
After a short time, Pondle and Lance finished their check of the camp perimeter, finding nothing unusual. Pondle sat under a large tree, away from the hot embers of the campfire, removed some food from his pack and sat down, using the knapsack as a backrest. He reached into a pouch and grabbed a handful of berries. They never made it to his mouth. With a soft swooshing sound, he felt a sharp, numbing pain in the side of his neck. Pondle instinctively placed his hand on the wounded area and felt the end of a small dart, but its payload had already entered his body. Pondle slumped over, the barb still firmly in place.
