The Overlords
For those of you reading this for the first time, The Overlords is a trilogy written by Mike Squatrito. The story is set in the fantasy genre, and has been an ongoing project of mine for the past eleven years. I either found your email address, or got it from you, or from a friend of yours! Please continue to read this newsletter, and visit my website!
What’s New
Congrats to the New England Patriots for capturing their 3rd NFL title in the past four years. If I’m not mistaken, that makes 3 championships for the city of Boston in the past 370 or so days – not bad indeed!
I’ve finished Legend of the Treasure, the first book in The Overlords series. Laura, my editor, should be receiving the final version any day now and will give it a read, but I’m not expecting any more changes to be made. So, what does this mean? I’ll be searching for an agent or publisher to take on my work, again. I don’t think I’m going the route of blindly submitting query letters this time, since it failed so miserably before. You all will know when I find the right person.
About The Project
The subtle plot change I made to Book One has caused major ripples throughout Book Two! Right now I’m trying to fix the storyline in The Talisman of Unification. The first few chapters need major rewrites, but all in all, it’s looking good. I have 27 chapters written with several more to go. At least I have another project to keep me busy, right?
I’ve been thinking about going the self-publishing route, but I have heard more negatives than positives about doing this. Some things have to do with inferior companies, self-published books can’t be sold in book stores, and the like. I’d love to get some feedback from my fans. Do you think I’d be selling myself short by self-publishing, or should I wait for my “big break”? I’m curious to hear what you have to say, as well as to see if anyone actually reads this newsletter!
