The Overlords
For those of you reading this for the first time, The Overlords is a trilogy written by Mike Squatrito. The story is set in the fantasy genre and has been an ongoing project of mine for the past fifteen years. I either found your email address, got it from you, or from a friend of yours! What’s New
I just want to say – what a month!!!! Book sales have been better than expected and I have to thank everyone who bought a copy of Legend of the Treasure. I knew I had good support, but this has been unbelievable. I don’t have an exact figure, but I think I’ve sold over 50 books, which might not sound like a lot, but for the first month of sales for a first time author, it’s great. If you haven’t bought a book yet and still want to, either go to my website or just let me know – I really do have copies in the trunk of my car!
For those of you who did purchase the book, and have finished reading it, please write a review on one of the online sites (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iUniverse). You can access their sites via my website. Thanks in advance!
As for events this past month, on June 12th I had a very successful book signing at the Newport Blues Café, where our good friend Diane Blue also took the stage later in the evening. And, on June 16th I spoke to about 50 students at the Jordan Jackson Elementary School in Mansfield, MA. The kids thoroughly enjoyed talking about my project and writing in general, and at the end each child received an Overlords bookmark and business card. The kids were great, asking me questions for over an hour and then holding me hostage until I autographed their bookmarks! Thanks for your support and I look forward to visiting again, hopefully in the fall!
On Thursday, June 22nd, Kate Gorman of the Newport Daily News spent an hour with me at my house interviewing me about my project, school visits, and questions in general. I’ll let you know when the article will appear in the paper.
I’ll be signing book at my old workplace this Friday, June 30th and I’ll be toting books with me on the 4th of July in my hometown of Bristol, RI. Speaking of my old stomping grounds, I’ll be appearing at a local bookstore in Bristol, A Novel Idea, on Saturday, August 5th and I’ll be at the NECON event at Roger Williams University July 14th and 15th.
As you can see, I’ve been busy and will stay that way for the near future. If you can’t tell, I’m loving this!!!!
More details to come next month ….
About The Project
Can you believe I’m up to Chapter 20 of the Talisman of Unification, even with all of the other things going on? I’m completely energized by my early successes and I’m hoping to ride the wave for as long as possible.
I know that school is out for summer break, but keep me in mind for the fall. I always speak to the kids for free, and each event has been very successful. I’m hoping to revisit St. Luke’s and Jordan Jackson Elementary in the fall, as well as targeting schools in my local area of Tiverton, RI.
Speaking of summer, what could be better than going to the beach and soaking the rays, while reading a thrilling fantasy adventure?
