What’s New
I want to take the time to thank everyone for their kind words and cards that I received upon hearing the news of Nana and Junior’s passing (click here to read an inspirational letter on this subject that I wrote called The Winter Butterfly). I always knew that I had a large following, but I received notes from people not only from Rhode Island, my home state, and Southern New England, but as far away as California, Florida, Chicago, South Carolina, and countries such as Canada and Scotland. Thank you all, I will forever remember your kindness at such a painful time.
Now, on to happier stories. Sales of Legend of the Treasure have topped 500! I had a very successful book signing at T. F. Green Airport last month, where I sold out of my first novel. Upon hearing this, Cathy Branting, manager at the Parodies Shops in the airport, ordered 24 more copies. The next time you fly out of Providence, be sure to look for my books around Gate 16, near Dunkin Donuts. Buy a copy for your flight -- it makes for great reading!
The University of Rhode Island alumni magazine, QuadAngles, contains a blurb on me in the Class of ’87 section. Basically, it states that I have published my second novel, The Talisman of Unification, as well as telling people that I’m available for speaking engagements. Hopefully some of you have already seen this. For those who don’t know, this magazine reaches 93,000 alumni!!!
I’ve contacted the director of Wordstock, a literacy festival that takes place in Portland, Oregon in November. If I’m lucky, they will invite me as one of the featured authors for their event, where I’ll help to promote literacy out on the West Coast. This will be a great opportunity for me, one that I might take even if I’m not an invited author. Thanks to Jon Toorock, my biggest Overlords fan in Oregon!
I’m still looking for reviews of The Talisman of Unification. This past month, I mailed copies of both novels to the #1 Book Reviewer on Amazon.com and I’m anxiously awaiting her evaluation. I’ll keep you posted on how that goes. Also, I post all reviews on my website, so just email me your comments and I’ll make sure they get into cyberspace. I thank you all in advance. As always, reviews are most helpful if they are posted on Amazon.com or BarnesandNoble.com.
Remember, I have Overlord coffee mugs available for sale. The mugs display one of the book covers on the front and contact information on the back. Mugs will sell for $12, which will also be available via my website in the near future.
And as always, I’m still available to visit your child’s middle or high school -- feel free to have their teachers or librarians contact me or go to my Overlord Enterprises website for more details.
Book Three Update
Book three is up to 120+ pages, where I’m currently writing chapter six. I have to give props to my buddy Kevin Duarte who has supplied me with some great fantasy character names. I might have a great storyline, but I’m not good at making up names. Hey, I can’t do everything, right???
