Rhode Island Self-Published Author Fair

In February, Mike submitted his Overlords books for review by the Providence Public Library.  Later that month we were very happy to find out that Mike was selected for the coveted spot as one of fifteen authors that will be participating in the first annual Rhode Island Self-Published Author Fair.  Intended to highlight and contextualize the growing trend of self-publishing, this fair will showcase the diversity and range of Rhode Island's local authors.  This event is free and a portion of any sales and/or proceeds will go to support The Providence Public Library.  We look forward to this event providing great exposure for both the author and The Overlords fantasy book series.  Stop by to see Mike, his books, and the URI interns! Riverside Chat

On Friday, February 13th, The Overlords visited the Riverside Middle School where Mike and two of his URI interns, Eli Moger and Tina Piccoli, taught the students the finer details to writing a book, as well as a hands-on monster creation session. The children were very creative and dreamed up some extremely interesting beings!  Mike is receiving excellent feedback on his presentations - both from students and faculty members.  His 2009 schedule is filling up with other speaking engagements; so if you want to schedule a school presentation, please contact us as soon as possible at the-overlords@cox.net.

Rhode Island Young Adult Librarian Network

Sue Rousseau of The Portsmouth Free Public Library contacted Mike in February to discuss the Rhode Island Young Adult Librarian network.  Mike and Sue are now in the process of setting up a schedule of presentations and workshops during July and August.  Taking place at The Portsmouth Free Public Library, these workshops will be for “tweeners”, 12 to 15-year olds who have an interest in writing.   More details to follow as summer approaches.

Book Sales Continue Positive Trends

Since the start of the New Year, we have consistently sold multiple copies of both Overlords books through varying channels.  Online sales have commenced in earnest and you can purchase copies via our homepage at http://www.the-overlords.com/.  Additionally, we have increased our real-world bookstore exposure, including The Paradies Shops at T. F. Green Airport in Providence, RI.  Keep an eye out for The Overlords the next time you take a flight into or out of the Ocean State!

Book Three Update

Chapter 16 is complete!  Chapter 17 has been started!  Book Three is almost halfway done!  We'll let you know when pre-ordering opens.  For the moment, you’ll just have to hang in there and wait like everyone else!
